Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

I made a big effort today to get up and get some action in. I think I feel better… definitely a BIT better.

When JR came home, we all went out for a walk. We went along past a wee local cafe/restaurant that has just re-opened for sit-ins, but it was mobbed. (That table behind JR was booked, so too the rest of the window table. As was, indeed - ours!) But a couple of folk left, so we sat down for a coffee and a scone. They had ‘Beremeal’ scones, which were delicious. They came with clotted cream and lemon curd. Different! The beremeal is only grown in Orkney and Shetland, so it’s hardy stuff.

We walked back down to the Meadows to look at the crocuses, which are in full bloom. But I noted that we were near a bus stop, and one was just coming, so it was too tempting not to be transported home. In fact, it arrived rather suddenly, and I had to make an inelegant dash (10 yards) to catch it. A friend who was on the bus and witnessed the spectacle, congratulated me on it. JR and Archie did a longer (and faster) walk round the Meadows.

I watched the first episode of Guy Martin’s ‘Great British Power Trip’ where he investigates how the UK makes its power, and why it costs so much. Very interesting!
