Billy's History Lesson

A beautiful first day of spring.  Light winds, sunshine and blue skies all day, and clear calm evening. Typical, no northern lights. 

Up early and got washing out on the line.  I sat out on the veranda for my morning cuppa.  Walkies and popped by Madeline's.  Headed down to Laura's, Elise was busy washing and cleaning cars.  We headed to the garden centre for more seeds etc.  The afternoon was spent pressure washing garden paths, fences etc.  More walkies with Sammy this evening, and then Laura, Shaun and Olly came by.  Settled down with a film now.

We took a detour on our way to the garden centre.  Stopped off and watched a frog swim in a puddle, then Billy Bain came by.  With the fine day, we yapped outside for about 45 minutes.  He was telling us all sorts of old stories, including some history of the outbuildings behind them.  It used to be a house, with the door in the centre where the wall runs into.  Later the Laird halved the croft and the house, getting more money from the tenants.  The Bain family lived in the left end, and the Jamieson family in the right.  The Jamieson's extended their end, note the joins in the wall.  Jeemsie Bain later built a house across from here, which later came to be the Jamieson house, bought by Lowrie.  The land and outbuildings still belong to the Jamieson family, now named Halcrow.  I asked Billy and Laura act natural for a photo, thus led to another story about Billy's short acting career, when he was nervous in a Sunday school play, but he did well today.  Laura and Billy outside the old Greenmow houses, Cunningsburgh.
