DAY 2 - THE HOLY LAND

Gosh where to start…..firstly I’m doing catch up because this trip was really full on and very overwhelming…
Day started at 7am (NOT A HOLIDAY!!) a busy chaotic breakfast, then onto the coach at 8.
First stop … THE MOUNT OF OLIVES.
#the view was amazing across a city that was a maze of history. The grey dome on left is the site of Jesus’ crucifixion. We then walked the path of the PALM SUNDAY parade. Stopping at DOMINUS FLEVIT church (featured on The Rev’s blip..collared), where it is believed Jesus spent his last night.
#Down to the GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE …not quiet and restful or as big as I imagined but great to be there.
#we had bible reading at each site today applicable to where we stood. Here the bishop handed out a few branches of the Olive trees. We also visited the BASILICA OF AGONY.
#back on the coach to BA HARIM the birthplace of JOHN THE BAPTIST Baptist….a more peaceful place.
#we walked through the small town to a convent; where we enjoyed a fabulous lunch in the beautiful garden and rested in the sunshine
Back on the coach to Abu Ghosh…the site of EMMAUS ROAD where the ARK OF COVENANT was taken. We had a catholic mass here; where unfortunately we were unable to take communion. It did cause distress for several Anglicans (especially my friend Wendy)…however a greater understanding and inclusion was reached as the trip progressed
We returned to the hotel at 5:30 absolutely exhausted with an hours rest and spruce up for dinner at 6:30 and…
#drinks on the roof top before evening prayers at 8.
We were in bed by 9…definitely not holiday times :))))
