The Flying Scotsman Centenary

A few days before we moved south from Edinburgh in the summer of 2021 The Flying Scotsman locomotive was parked in Portobello. There were great views of this world famous steam engine from the footbridge over The Harry Lauder Road.

Today I was in our local post office shortly after it opened to buy this souvenir first day cover tribute to this locomotive. It was also, by chance, the very last Royal Mail stamps to bear the late Queen’s head.

There was sleet and snow on the hills. It quickly turned wet and drizzly. It’s good to see the rain, after the drought, but we are also missing sun and blue skies!

We picked up our local grandchildren from school. Their boundless energy and fun-filled view of life is a real tonic.
