The Lozarithm Lens

Beckhampton (Friday 24th March 2023)

On Friday I took the trailer full of all the buddleia cuttings to the local recycling centre at Honeyball in Lower Compton. Nearby to there I had been told of a herd of Highland cattle, so I drove on to find them.

I was rewarded by the sight of six or seven of them that could be seen by walking on a verge beside the A4 from the Waggon and Horses at Beckhampton, near Avebury. They were on the far side of a large field and had the sun behind them making visibility through the EVF at full magnification pretty difficult.

Looking at an aeriel view on the map I can see a driveway to Gatleemore Farm that backs onto the same field. The mouth of the driveway is almost opposite the car park for Silbury Hill, so I plan to go back for a second attempt.

Meanwhile, here is a Highland cow.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Brian Auger and the Trinity - Pavane (1969)
My most recent CD acquisition is a box set containing four albums, two by Brian Auger and the Trinity and two (one a double-album) where they are joined by Julie Driscoll on several tracks, Open and Streetnoise. These were the two that I originally owned back in the sixties but they had been out of print on CD for some years until very recently, and I was very pleased to be re-united with the music, although some of the tracks had aged much better than others. The two Brian Auger albums, Befour and Definitely What!..., were new to me. He isn't much of a singer but his Hammond organ playing in particular is very stylish. This untypical piece is his treatment of a Gabriel Fauré composition and comes from Befour.
