Bees and Bugle
Trek and Shadow are used to having breakfast before sunrise. So, when I am feeling sufficiently guilty (~5:50 am), I get up, let Trek out, feed Shadow and then Trek who is back inside by then. Not long after, we are all asleep again. I decided to look around and find a couple housecleaning tasks I could do to surprise Kim. Today, it was cleaning the refrigerator. She is the least OCD (like their mom) child I have, maybe being on the other extreme. Everything is back in the sparkling refrigerator, sorted by type of food/condiment with her small jars neatly arranged in a plastic bin. Her hubby loves it when I stay here and always brings thank you gifts. From there, I scrubbed her shower. She had a few loads of laundry and said it would be ok if I took care of them. Sitting around is not my happy place without my Kindle. After all, how many e-mails and texts can you delete before your eyes are crossed? We always go to Holy Thursday Mass. Father re-enacts the washing of the apostles’ feet and we process from the sanctuary to the solemn “garden of repose” that is set up in our parish hall. We are having a severe storm with potential hail this evening and we are not comfortable driving in it. Of course it started soon before we should have headed out and will last all night. That’s a shame. I had planned to use that beautiful garden for my blip but just in case the forecast proved to be correct, I took a ride to find an alternate blip earlier in the afternoon. I didn’t have far to go and really did not need my car. There is a large patch of ajuga bugle weed in a field across the road from Kim’s side yard. And it was full of a variety of bees. They were so intent on collecting pollen that I had a hard time photographing their full bodies. But you get the idea. I was happy to see honey bees in the mix. Hubby and I will enjoy spaghetti that Kim left for us. He will stay here until it’s time to give Blanche her next dose of antibiotic. Thanks for visiting. Have a blessed weekend. Be safe. “The bee collects honey from flowers in such a way as to do the least damage or destruction to them, and he leaves them whole, undamaged and fresh, just as he found them.” ~ Saint Francis De Sales
