African Daisies

Today was a little more restful. It was way too windy to accomplish much outside. Unfortunately, today was our parish property Spring cleaning event. Hubby went over around 8:45. Only four other parishioners joined him until 10:00 when two more arrived. Hubby said the hardest job was holding the large bags and actually getting trash inside them. The main focus was the cemetery. Old arrangements and dead flowers were removed so the grass cutting crew can start their tasks. Hubby retired from that volunteer job last year so we could travel more. I worked on Genealogy; sent my data to a niece so she can complete her mother’s line and forwarded my line to our BIL who has the database on our families. It was routine cleaning day and I did several small tasks. Jamie called in a panic. Some unknown man was at to his house and told Abby he was there to replace their stove. They had not ordered a stove. Abby was home alone. I went over to be with her. The guy had taken their stove apart before she called her dad and started to replace it; Abby asked him to verify the address. Turns out the new stove was for a neighbor. He had put theirs back in place and left by the time I got there. Renee arrived when I did. I counseled Abby to not let in strangers without someone else being there. I told her our county is on alert because we have a fugitive on the run who has already beaten two people with a sledgehammer. Young folks are way too naive and trusting. Keeps me up at night…. I used my visit to get my blip. The rain has ruined many of Jamie’s blooms but this daisy was still looking good. Otherwise it has been a calm day. We are heading to 5:00 Mass. Our evening should be quiet. Hope you are enjoying a quiet weekend. Thanks for your visit. Will try to get to your journals tonight. “I understood that every flower created by Him is beautiful, that the brilliance of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not lessen the perfume of the violet or the sweet simplicity of the daisy. I understood that if all the lowly flowers wished to be roses, nature would no longer be enamelled with lovely hues. And so it is in the world of souls, Our lord's living garden.” -Therese of Lisieux
