Caught in the act!
‘Quick, come and look at this!’ calls a disembodied voice from somewhere downstairs. I find G standing in the kitchen, looking out through the conservatory at a group of jackdaws working hard at destroying the winter covers of his precious cordylines.
He’s been wondering why they’ve been looking particularly tatty, and was planning to remove them this weekend, but quite clearly they’ve now been repurposed as nesting material and will certainly not see out another season.
I grab my camera - which for once is fitted with the right lens, and photograph the vandals from the kitchen through the windows of the conservatory. Brazen though they are, I suspect moving any closer is likely to scatter the miscreants to the winds.
And so they’re caught in action, the evidence of their crime clearly visible in their industrious beaks - though I’d like a crisper photo obviously!
Thank you for your kindness and best wishes following yesterday’s medical appointments - all very much appreciated. Feeling somewhat bruised and battered physically and emotionally right now.
