Aying Maibaum
We made it to Aying this afternoon to check out the venue daughter#2 has booked for her wedding reception in October. It's a super place, very Bavarian, with a typically Bavarian maypole outside. It's going to be perfect we think. We had a lovely meal with her fiancé's parents, extra attached of our soon to be extended family. D's step father is quite a character. He has very similar tastes in music to me. In conversation it came out that he had met Eric Burdon and John Mayall. Probably others too that we didn't get around to.
In the morning we had visited the Ostpark (2nd extra) and had hot drinks in the beer garden there. We then collected D's parents and dropped his mum off to meet up with mrsfb and daughter#2 to view 'the dress'. It has been ordered!
While this was going on the men went back to the beer garden, where beers were consumed this time. I learned that you should never ask for a pils in Munich, always a helles. And if you are drinking a weissbeer you touch the bottoms of the glasses when saying cheers or whatever, not the tops.
It's been very warm and sunny all day too, an added bonus.
After the Aying meal mrsfb and I took the S-Bahn back to Munich with daughter#2. The last extra shows a view of the Alps you can see from the platform at Aying. We haven't been that impressed with the German railways on this visit. There were lots of delays yesterday to and from the airport, a strike on the S-Bahn this morning, and delays and cancellations in the afternoon. It's just like being at home.
Off to bed now as we are pretty tired. Way behind on blip, will catch up next week.
