The Sound of Silence

I didn’t wear my hearing aids today because I had read that the Government’s emergency alert call scheduled for 3.00 pm this afternoon might be too loud for those of us wearing bluetooth hearing aids. 

Just before 3.00 pm I went and joined Smithers in the kitchen so we could experience the alert call together. He had just measured out the ingredients for another batch of his famous scones, but had paused before he rubbed the fat into the flour so as not to have dirty hands when he needed to switch the alert off.

Well, 3.00 pm came and went. That was two hours ago, and neither of us received an alert. However, I am pleased to report that the freshly-baked scone I had with my afternoon cuppa was superb!
