Breakfast in America

Well, Kendal actually, but the size of it put me in mind of America! Thought we’d go out for breakfast this morning and, as we wanted some bits from Morrisons, decided to visit their cafe. I think our last visit was pre-covid so it was a whole new menu to peruse.
In a definite case of “eyes bigger than belly” we ordered two “Ultimate Breakfasts” but were not really prepared for what was put in front of us!
I’m not really keen on beans or black pudding, so traded these with Mrs C for a sausage, a tomato and a piece of fried bread. I managed to clear the plate, but Mrs C was defeated and couldn’t finish it all. With hindsight, I think we should have opted for one of the smaller breakfasts as neither of us has felt too clever this afternoon. We didn’t want any lunch either and tea is still a 50/50 option at the moment. I’ll definitely need an extra visit to the gym this week!
Most of the population of the U.K. (basically, all those with smart phones) should have received the Government’s Emergency Alert test message at 3pm this afternoon. Designed to alert you to “life threatening emergencies nearby” - whatever they may be - it seems to have been met with typical British indifference. Those who complained only did so because it arrived slightly early or late - or not at all in some cases!. And then I think a lot of people will have gone to “settings” and turned these alerts off, on the basis they’d rather not know when Mr Putin’s missiles are heading towards us, as receiving the alert will make sod all difference to the eventual outcome…
