A Better Future

I have been selected by the Office of National Statistics to complete a survey that will help “shape the future of Britain”.
I’m not sure my responses will actually be of any help as most of the questions seemed to be about how much studying I did and if I lived away from home whilst doing this. I don’t - study, that is.
I do appear to be in tune with modern society in terms of employment though. The survey got quite excited when I said I worked on the equivalent of a zero hours contract. I mean, I literally work in the gig economy as my only source of paid income is playing in the band. No regular hours of work and no guaranteed hourly rate. I was particularly pleased with following answers:-
“What is your job title?” - Bass Guitarist.
“What do you do?” - play bass guitar.
“What does the organisation you work for do as a business?” - play music to entertain people.
I glossed over the questions about who was responsible for paying taxes, etc.
As a reward for completing the survey, I will receive a £10 gift voucher and they also enclosed this canvas tote bag with the survey instructions, which Mrs C says she can make use of. One thing that did strike me was the wording on the envelope - “On His Majesty’s Service”. I still haven’t really got used to us having a King - maybe I’ll feel differently after the actual Coronation, which is not that far away now…
