Sault market
I love French markets for their food! This trader was a Corsican selling sheep's cheese, wines and sausage. Of course he said Corsica was the most beautiful island in the world!
Extra photos: there is one of the Tielle de Sete, little tasty pies filled with tomatoes and octopus or squid. They originated in Italy with the wives of the fishermen cooking the pies for their husbands - I suppose a little like our Cornish pasties. They were made famous in France in the 1930's when Adrienne Virduci of Sete started making them to sell and they have been popular ever since with her descendants carrying on the tradition.
The nougat was really expensive 69 Euros - 79 Euros a kilo!!! It wasn't just market prices - they were the same as in the shops (we were able to sample them).
