Homeward bound

As we departed for Oban this morning, N and I were thinking back and realised that we hadn’t been off the island since November, six months ago! Although much of this time has been over the winter months, the main reason for our lack of travel has been the increasingly unreliable nature of our ferries. Sometimes we have two small ferries on the route when even travel as a foot passenger can’t be guaranteed. When we have the larger MV Isle of Mull  there isn’t so much pressure but she is often sent to stand in for a ferry that has broken down on another route. Today, we were fortunate and completed our return journey without any disruption. 
Quite a bit of our time in Oban was spent at the optician and this turned out to be rather an expensive visit for N as the tests showed there to be a bit of a change in one of his eyes, therefore the need for a new prescription.
Very soon after we arrived home we noticed a visitor in our holly tree and it stayed there for long enough for me to catch this extra shot before it flew off. Usually we only get a fleeting glimpse of a sparrow hawk as it swoops through at great speed, hoping to catch an unwary chaffinch or blue tit on the feeder.
