The Oval pavilion ….before the rain!
Today we went to watch the county cricket match between Surrey and Middlesex at the Oval cricket ground. This is a view of the outside of the members pavilion which was revamped a couple of years ago when another stand was built too. Nice to see that both the men’s and women’s captains get the same billing with their pictures on the outside.
A view of the ground from the pavilion is the extra.
Play went ahead until lunchtime but all the time black clouds were looming and as forecast rain started around 1pm. We had lunch and I went home and my husband stayed a bit longer hoping for more play. I did however have a look at some of the old photos and memorabilia in the museum which I always find interesting. There are so many nicely framed photographs on the walls going up all the stairs too. The club was started in 1845 and the oldest team photo I found was taken in 1883. There were lots of older drawings of players .
When I got home I found we had had no rain. We did have lots overnight and I had needed to empty lots of saucers under pots!
