Consultation

A long day of rolling around the landscape meeting community partners and hearing their perspectives on conservation challenges and solutions in the region. Ideas are consolidating helpfully for the proposal that I’ve been going around in circles with for some time.

This particular meeting was with the committee of a Wildlife Management Area, a type of community-led designation, in the far south of Tanzania. Various issues were raised, ranging from encroachment by livestock into forest areas, unsustainable conversion of swamplands into paddy fields and not enough resources to do community patrolling.
