A Tinplate Garfield And The Throwaway Society
I wasn't sure what I was going to capture for my blip image today. In fact this shot is made up of stuff that I just found lying on the ground on a short afternoon stroll.
The first was, rather bizarrely, a discarded tinplate Garfield which forms the 'centrepiece' of my shot. I also came across two Lost Mary's (jettisoned vapes - they're strawberry ice and menthol flavours apparently), two beer cans, a plastic shim (the elongated horseshoe shaped item in the top right hand corner) which is a device used by builders to align parts, make them fit or reduce wear and a squashed gold lighter casing - all within just a couple of hundred yards of my front door. The breadth and scope of things people just literally throw on the ground never ceases to amaze and appal me. How difficult is it to just put something in the bin or recycle it! I added the scattering of petals in an attempt to make it look 'pretty'!
Rest assured I did dispose of everything responsibly apart from Garfield. He is now residing next to some flower pots outside our back door as a feline garden ornament.
