Down Memory Lane..
..which happened to be the D958 to the D115 to the 820..
In 2019, we stayed on a farm near Montpezat de Quercy for 5 weeks and explored many impressive villages along the Aveyron river and beyond. We have kept in touch with our hosts and arranged to drop by today for a visit.
It was like old times, visiting Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, (extra) having a coffee in the cafe under the trees, and then driving on by Penne and Bruniquel, vowing that we would return to re-visit them before leaving this region.
We had a lovely visit at Molles Farm (extra), somewhat changed since 2019... the alpacas, donkeys, and chickens have been sold, leaving only the peacocks, and two aging goats! Our hosts, who are British, have the farm up for sale as they are ready now to move back to England, and have down-sized the menagerie; the animals were just too much work for them anymore. They have found good homes for them but are still sad about seeing them go....
We did get a kick out of the peacocks though..they were definitely part of our memories of Molles! They used to hang out at our door, wanting in..just as in the photo! I remember sitting on the patio, trying to copy a technique for painting a peacock from a Pinterest site and one of them, curious it seemed, joined me..and then, along came the entire family! there they were gathering around me as if to say..." Paint me! Paint me! (extra from 2019)
We really enjoyed our time on that farm and loved the area..as well as our hosts..and if they do move to Shropshire as they are hoping to do, We will definitely drop in to see them there!
It was a long but wonderful day...and our plans worked out - for a change!
