Dawn at Lyme Regis
I was up and out early (4.30am) to try for a different photo of the Cobb at Lyme Regis. Unfortunately when I got there The Cobb was all barriered off, it has been damaged by Winter storms and it is now unsafe to get up on top. One of the local fishermen was of the opinion that it was more damaged by years of neglect by the local authority. This is I think hard to believe, just look how well they look after our roads, schools and public amenities (sic)...
Later in the morning we went out for a walk at Thomas Hardy's birthplace, there were some trees I wanted to see again and photograph but the winter storms had sorted them out too...
We had our picnic lunch at the tiny church of St Basil (The Great) in Toller Fratrum. Rare photo of Margaret in the extra. This is a tiny hamlet reached by a single track road that is a dead end. The church is tiny, very old and home to an amazing gem. The font dates to late Saxon or very early Norman times and is unique in its decoration.
I just had to have a photo of the Edward VII 'Hovis' post box in the hamlet.
Tractor fans are not forgotten today... My first ever photo of a McCormick, not a farming tractor, this one is used for hauling sailing boats about in Lyme Regis.
