Canterbury
We had planned to visit a Yellow Book garden today but as it didn't open until 2.00 we thought we would have breakfast/brunch out (also no milk and empty cupboards!). We drove to Canterbury (via Chilham where we were turned away from a cafe in the square as they had stopped serving breakfast - what a grumpy man and why would you turn away £). I had text a friend who knows Canterbury well and she described a nice cafe with a garden but could't remember its name! I was looking at my phone when a really helpful chap walked past and asked if we were lost? I explained that we were looking for a restaurant/cafe which served breakfast/brunch as I had got my mind around avocado and sourdough? He didn't know the name of the place my friend recommended but was manager of a restaurant close by! We went there instead and had great food and great service (and a cheeky glass of prosecco). So yah boo sucks to the grumpy man in Chilham.
After eating we wandered round Canterbury for a bit before heading off to the garden - we have been before and seen it at different times of the year. The owner obviously has very deep pockets as it is a massive garden filled with roses and beautiful herbaceous plants. We had the obligatory tea and cake and bought a plant before heading home and getting caught up in Op Stack. Detour across country which didn't take too long however we had planned to call into the hospital on the way but went home for a cup of tea and an hour sitting in the sunshine instead. Duty visit to MIL who said she had walked to the end of the ward today. Also looking ominously was a commode with her name on a label for her to take home! I wonder whose job it will be to empty it?!
No.1 spent the weekend with JC's family and visiting friends today.
No.2 at a festival in Brockwell Park
