Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Another productive day!

If yesterday was action packed, today was super-charged! What a LOT we got done - we were whirling dervishes!

JR went to the gym, Archie and I went down to the hardware for a treat some screws. But they weren't open at 9am. So we had to go for a coffee - not such an inconvenience. By 10.10am, I had my screws, and we were back sawing, screwing, hammering, measuring, bad language, re-measuring, drilling.

Anyway, I saved a few £££s by not getting in a handyman. Mind you, the structure does not bear close scrutiny. I’ve just added another hanging rail under the original one. And when the next people discover it (it's like a child's attempt) I'll be long gone! Still it's useable and actually bloomin' fantastic enough.

When JR came back, she set to with vigour, attacking the back window with a paint scraper and a hammer to break the paint seal on the edges. It has been painted in (and completely stuck) for ages, so the inside panes (we have secondary glazing) cannot be cleaned. Until now. She then walked to the big hardware in Morningside with Archie, and got more paver cleaner (and a new tartan lead for Arch).

While she was gone, I brushed the pavers, ready for their washing, then started on the hedge - it's suddenly grown with this warmer weather. I got one hedge done and swept up before she came back. She did the rest (twice as much) while I took Archie to the vet for a check up on his eye.

Poor wee lamb had some green dye put into his eye to check if there were any scratches, but all OK. He walked home with one green eye, but he didn't mind.

When I came back, the pavers had been washed.

Well done us!
