Diary of an Edinburgher

Lunch!

A much more relaxed day! JR went off to the gym, while I spent the morning sitting out in the sun in the front garden, admiring the newly trimmed hedge while listening to my audiobook (Walking with Ghosts, Gabriel Byrne). Archie was just hanging out too, gazing at the people walking by, not barking. Most pleasant.

Elizabeth took Archie out for his weekly treat, and we wandered across the Links to try out Tom Kitchin's relatively new restaurant. He opened this venue (as a different restaurant) a couple of years ago, but I don't think it was very popular, unlike his Stockbridge gastro-pub. We went once, and it was too pricey. Fish and chips, but chips and peas were extra!! He shut it for a year or so over Covid, and gave it a makeover, so we'll try it.

The other day we spent all morning searching in B&Q and the big homeware store next door for a new shower hose, and a couple of those wire baskets that hang under a shelf. We asked downstairs in homewear, and they told us to go upstairs to furniture. We asked upstairs and they told us to go down to houshold. Waste of time. I then ordered them in my bed in the evening, on Amazon, and they arrived by midday next day. Brilliant! My kind of shopping.

This is some of our lunch, top left, clockwise:
Perthshire asparagus, chopped hard boiled egg, capers, vinaigrette
Perthshire strawberry and yoghurt panna cotta
North Sea cod, cod brandade, black olive, sea herbs
Grains and seeds salad, roasted Borders chicken breast, avocado, feta

Fabulous!
