Gunilla
The Swedish sail training ship Gunilla moored in the Cattewater, Plymouth today. Beautiful in the sunshine on Plymouth Hoe and around the historic Barbican area.
The city centre though is dreadful at the moment with so much regeneration work taking place. In March the previous Conservative-led administration created National news when the then Council leader signed an executive order which led to the felling of 110 trees. The work was done secretly under the cover of darkness, and despite a public consultation agreed by the council in February. A few trees were saved through an emergency injunction, but by then the damage to the environment and Plymouth's reputation had already been done. It was depressing to find that many of the trees have still not been cleared. An extra shows some of the devastation and how awful much of the area still looks. Hopefully, the work to improve the environment will not take too long!
