The good shepherd
Mountain Skills day one.
Omg it was hot today, lots of dynamic route changing, therapeutic foot bathing and swimming in the Tarn for Missy.
The participants on this Wellness Walks funded course were blown away by the views and seemed to learn a fair bit, but the heat did make the day tougher on all of us than usual.
The drive home was chaos. Whilst we saw a fair few people on the fells it wasn't as bad as I've often seen it, but the roads were just crazy, something has to be done to improve our transport infrastructure. The first bus was well after 9am from Ambleside, so useless for a day out, and thus everyone drives, it's not difficult to work out. Add that parking is extortionate in the towns, and public transport becomes unrealistic. After 40 minutes totally stationary in Ambleside I gave up, turned around and drove home via Keswick and Penrith.
