Château de la Roche-Jagu
My wife's friend suggested a visit to Château de la Roche-Jagu, a local castle that is owned by the department - she didn't think I'd be interested - but I'm still a boy at heart, so castles, dinosaurs and space fascinate even now. The castle is an ancient chateau-fort that sits on an escarpment overlooking a river valley, it's been partially converted as more of a fancy house since it ceased being a fortification, and the extensive grounds are open to the public and we spent ages wandering around.
The main picture and one similar extra are the main castle - or what's left and the second extra is the castle from a viewpoint on the cliff overlooking the river, which looks up to the castle. which gives you an idea how impregnable it was from the riverside - from the west on the land it would be an easy approach.
I've got at least another 100 pictures to sift through and process...
