Bilston viaduct walk

Viaduct history  ..opened in 1892, it carried the single-track Edinburgh, Loanhead and Roslin Railway 43m above the valley of the Bilston Burn. More pictures (links to Railscot.co.uk)

2ndSaturday so a walk on a great sunny morning starting and finishing at Stewart Brewing in Loanhead. First extra is the poppies at the corner of the building;  then the view from part way along the viaduct. Good paths, steep slopes, open fields and wonderful green beech woods. Snack stop at the Roslin Battle Memorial. Out and back by no 37 bus.

Afternoon wander along George Street to look at the Gumball 3000 cars; the advertising plastered on most of them diminishes the appeal. A good crowd, but navigable. Back by Rose Street and Queen St gardens.
