Late Tulips
The hazy, lazy, days of summer, …. well maybe a bit out of context given that the haze was not one of heat but of mist, the temperature was certainly not in the high teens but the lazy certainly applied.
I had my Sunday coffee as usual and then went for a gentle stroll on the highways and bye-ways at the back of the town. I met not a soul, nor did I see another breathing animal. Three cars passed me with a friendly wave but that was all. The world was all mine and I could stop and stare and drink in the peace.
The fields on either side of the road were were covered in buttercups and the verges resplendent with wild flowers most of whose names I know not but I could name vetch, forget me nots, clover and the occasional wild orchid.
I explored lanes on the way home and triumphed finding one that led straight down to my door.
I hung a washing out and then saw raindrops on the window but they fortunately came to nothing much and the sun came out again in time for our 5pm swim. There were only 4 ladies present but we enjoyed another high tide and sunshine. A perfect lazy Sunday.
