Taps Aff!
It was a ‘taps aff’ day here as the Glaswegians would say. I can’t ever remember walking the streets of Stromness in a T shirt without the need of a jacket. The temperature may have risen to the dizzying heights of 19° at lunch time, the town blossoming in the heat with scantily clad people out and about enjoying the good weather- the sale of ice creams was spectacularly high.
I swam with others at 8 am in a sea that felt warmer than of late and later sat in the sun at the harbour with my coffee, watching the Ferry from Scrabster dock and discharge its fill of lorries, camper vans and lorries.
It was hot enough that walking felt a chore and so I escaped into the cool of the library for a while although later I did reacquaint myself with some of the quieter lanes.
My blip is taken at the top of Christies Brae looking over the water to the Holms.
