Reflections at Sharon Woods

Monday
A cooler, pleasant and largely sunny day today, after yesterday’s rain. This afternoon I was out at Book Club, where the book being discussed was The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont, a fictional account based around the actual disappearance of Agatha Christie on Friday 3 December 1926, for about 11 days, and for which she never gave an explanation. The book is told from the point of view of Nan O’Dea, the mistress of Agatha’s husband Archie, and in fact the book really focuses more on her, and her past, than Agatha Christie, who is more like a secondary character. It’s a cleverly written book, and in parts is a bit like one of Agatha Christie’s own mystery novels. There was some mixed opinion in our group, but most had enjoyed it to some degree, and a few had really enjoyed it.
Afterwards, Roger and I went for another walk at Sharon Woods, our usual “go to” place, when we have limited time, and fitting into Roger’s restrictions of nothing too energetic. A pleasant meal afterwards, taken out on the patio, eating up a few left over items from the fridge! Our daughter Jen called us after dinner - she has just got back from a long weekend in the south of France attending her best friends wedding, so she was filling us in on all the details!
