Going for the burn

Do something different every day, they say.
 
Well today I tried my hand at pyrography (yes I had never heard of it either). Basically it’s a process of burning designs and drawings into wood.
 
Carol Nelson, one of the exhibiting artists with Artbeat- Open Studios (venue 36) has a studio at the bottom of her garden.
From there she practices a whole range of crafts from ceramics and lino cuts to pyrography.
 
Some time ago Carol bought herself an A5 printing press, (see extra) which allows her to make her own cards and linocut prints, instead of having to go into Print workshops in Glasgow or Edinburgh.
She looks forward to welcoming visitors to her studio in Bridge of Allan over the next couple of days where, if they wish, they too can try their hand at pyrography.
