Porto
I arrived in Porto earlier this afternoon after a very straightforward journey from Glasgow. An impressively efficient metro system took me into the city centre in 20 minutes or so and I found my accommodation reasonably easily, it’s the building on the right that doesn’t look like a hotel. The church is St Ildefonso famous for its facade which is covered in blue and white tiles.
I walked down to the cathedral, extra, to get my credential stamped, had a bite to eat including my first authentic pasta de nata, rich, creamy and little bit singed on top, delicious.
I’ve found the metro station and worked out how to recharge the ticket I bought today which will save me 50 cents. I intend to start in Matasinhos which will reduce the distance to Vila de Conde to 22km quite enough for the first day.
