Common Centaury flower
A dry but slightly cooler day today. I was out first thing this morning with a photography friend and we decided to visit Bystock Pools. We started in the meadow area which was looking fairly dry with some Meadow Brown and Marbled White Butterflies flitting around. The orchids were past their best and some Yellow Rattle flowers were still in bloom. I rather liked this Common Centaury flower (Centaurium erythraea) flower that was scatter around the field. We spent some time chasing dragonflies around with the camera, as you do, before stopping for an early lunch by the main pond and then retraced our steps back.
An enjoyable morning and good to catch up. Back home I visited the allotment and was advised that the strangely shaped courgette plants are likely to be suffering from lack of water so decided I would give them some extra care before making a decision to get some new plants. I am hoping we get the forecast rain later this evening as the ground is so very dry.
