The places people park?

Car parking in St Ives is a huge problem, especially in town. The town wasn't made for cars. It was originally just a little fishing town and as such the streets are very narrow. The car park nearest to the town and beaches is the 'Island' car park (so called because the area of recreational land next to it, is pretty much an island, having sea on three sides) but getting a space in there at this time of year is pretty much impossible.

Mmmmmm............. it would seem that some holiday makers think they have solved the St Ives parking problem................ These inconsiderate people, have had to drive through the car park and then squeeze their car through a tiny space to get onto this grassy area. Why would anyone do that? Apart from the fact that they want their car as near to the beach as possible. My human has lived in St Ives since 2002 and she's never seen anyone do this before. They've churned up the grass, and, when a couple of them left, we watched their angry response to getting a ticket, lol, people having to put their dogs on leads and keep their children close because there were cars driving around in an area that is supposed to be car free.

Anyway the five remaining cars (we reckon there had been eight there originally) all had parking tickets on their windscreens. Heee, heee! Soooooo, not only are they going to have to pay to get out of the car park (because it's a barrier system), they've been hit with a parking fine too.

Unfortunately, we're guessing that some people just don't care, as we witnessed one family come back to their car, throw a load of stuff into the boot, rip the ticket off the windscreen and then go down to the beach??????????????

And my human must not rant............................ BUT....................... she's guessing the reason why St Ives is so popular is because it's a very quaint fishing town with fabulous beaches. There's two big car parks at the top of town which have frequent little buses that are tootling up and down to the town/beaches regularly for anyone who is too lazy/not able to walk, but people don't want to do that. They want their car right next to the beaches/town. My human could RANT about car parking forever, but she won't.
