River of Flowers

Thursday: #30DaysWild - Jacob’s Ladder

Very sunny and hot all day, when I ventured outdoors I was staying in the shade. Indoors windows open, curtains drawn … rain forecast for tomorrow, fingers crossed :-))

This morning whilst it was fairly cool I cut back the patch of pink cranesbill at the top of the step near twisted hazel. Overhanging hazel branches trimmed too, also Weigela and top step was scraped, the soil thrown onto the garden where a few of the birds scratched around in it!

The whole garden is alive with so many birds and insects, they are making good use of the saucers of water which are placed in shady spots around the garden, at the risk of sounding like a broken record … we need more rain … please :-))

Potted on seedlings of Francoa sonchifolia (Bridalwreath plant), mint and lemon balm, they’d self seeded between the flagstones and I’d eased them out and planted them into a seed tray.

More seeds for the Cottage Garden Seed Swap:
Bowles Golden grass - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2980570521847989103 - my Blip exactly a year ago!

Planted the last 2 Zucchini “Striato d’Italia” next to the little row of peas next to MrD’s shed - soil is very poor and very dry but they got a good soaking of rainwater from the water butt.

Picked a handful of the little peas as “mange tout” and had them boiled with my dinner, they are delicious :-) also nice raw when I was picking them!

Started watching “Drenagh Estate: Deep Roots” on iPlayer, which I’m finding so interesting and exciting.

Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
