Armenteria to Vilanova de Arousa

A long leisurely day following the Route of Stone and Water along the small river strewn with the remains of the former milling industry for about 13 km. Some wonderful swimming places which I avoided knowing it would be a couple of hours before I hit the sun and I didn’t want to spoil a fabulous walk by being cold and wet.

I stopped for lunch, coffee and a very large doughnut at Pontearnelas and walked afterwards for quite a few kilometres with a young woman from Germany who had been walking since May, starting with the Camino Francés. We exchanged Camino memories and the miles passed quickly, fortuitously because it was the hilliest and least scenic part. We went our separate ways at the coast and I walked into Vilanosa with the Irish lads I met yesterday. Like yesterday they had no hostel reservations and were winging it, carrying tents just in case.

A substantial pilgrim meal tonight, essentially meat, I’m not sure what sort, I think beef, and potatoes. I am craving vegetables and 75% dark chocolate.
