June 30
Another job, almost complete. When I started, the bed beside the walkway was narrow, about 18 inches wide and the evergreens that had been planted there had outgrown the space long ago. There were a couple of smaller flowering shrubs under the window, they were not worth saving. The homeowner wanted more color there too. The first day there we removed the shrubs, widened the bed and added some fresh soil. She had purchased a rhododendron and an azalea so we planted them. I started buying some plants, so we stopped in another day for a couple of hours and got them planted. Yesterday I ordered mulch to be delivered so it would be there ready for us in the morning. More plants were added to the bed.
The only thing left to be done - There is a large flat rock under the window. It needs to be made into a feature, As it is now, no one sees it. Hopefully the weather will cooperate at some point and the guys will be back to finish installing the pool in the back yard. When they are there I will have them stand the rock up and bury half of it under the ground.
It was another cloudy, foggy day. It only rained once today, just long enough that we called it a day. Less than 15 minutes later the rain stopped and it's been cloudy and humid ever since.
Tomorrow is a holiday, Canada Day. I am still undecided where I am going tomorrow. Truro to Pictou - maybe; Truro to Maitland - maybe, Liverpool - maybe or the valley. It will depend on the weather in the morning and which way I feel like going.
