To Cross or Not to Cross
The DDW word challenge for today was Family so I felt it appropriate to blip klaus and of course Lily. The rest of the family, our daughters, Jenny and Amy, live in different states.
This photo was taken today as we attempted a hike in the Mt. Hood National Forest to a magical place called Ramona Falls. We brought along our camera equipment and a tripod because we wanted to capture the magic of the waterfall over basalt rock. We knew we had to cross a bridge over a river because we did this hike a couple of years ago. We followed the river looking for the bridge but was informed by hikers that the bridge wasn't installed yet for the season. Some people were crossing over a narrow log balancing very carefully and not carrying any equipment. After much deliberation, I attempted to cross over a different log on my hands and knees with a backpack on and my camera bag swinging. My camera could end up in the water, I didn't want to chance it. We also didn't know how to get Lily across in the fast moving water. We almost lost her once in a moving river and didn't want to chance it again. So we turned around. We'll try our photo attempt another weekend but we will call the National Forest Service first to be be sure we have a bridge.
