Bus Challenge No 189
Budleigh Salterton, Devon
First bus of the day took us from Feniton to Sidmouth, bombing through the narrow leafy lanes of East Devon, then a second bus to Budleigh Salterton, passing through picturesque thatched cottage villages.
The sun was breaking through in Budleigh but it was VERY windy! After some window shopping in the main street we walked along the seafront to a beachside cafe for lunch, thankfully sheltered from the wind, but with a beautiful view of the sparkling sea (first extra). We then continued our walk along the seafront, before returning and taking the cliff path where we sat in the sun and watched a brave (bonkers!) swimmer who set off on a marathon swim. Our last two stops in Budleigh Salterton were Aunty H's favourite cafe where we had a Devonshire Cream Tea, then a lovely art gallery where I treated myself to a beach hut painting, and did some Christmas shopping! (More scenes of Budleigh Salterton in extras).
After the third and fourth bus of the day we were back in Feniton, and had a quiet evening watching Wimbledon and the antics of the baby Robin in the garden (last extra). A lot of buses today but they were all through such picturesque scenery, and on a lovely sunny day of 18 degrees, so they were a pleasure.
Bus journey time = 2h 59mins
Waiting between buses time = 50mins
Total bus journey time = 3h 49mins
Thank you.
