A touch of gold

These wonderful meringue nests with their garnish of real gold leaf were the final tasty part of a buffet planned to celebrate the golden wedding anniversary of our friends P and A. Four of us: fellow blipper Wanderers13, John, Nick and I had planned this surprise event a few weeks ago and it evolved as the weather changed from a heatwave to the more usual showery days. As well as food, we gave the golden couple a box containing fifty golden gifts such as Gold Blend coffee, a golden jigsaw and Yorkshire Gold tea. They were thrilled to bits with the surprise golden lunch event, which went on for a good few hours more than the cup of coffee which they thought they had been invited for!
