Starting Line
Our local Les Schwab Tire Center is always busy. We arrived well before 8 to get Thursday's blown-out tire replaced, but before we even claimed our spot in line, there were 4 others doing the same. They put up a row of jacks to keep customers from parking in the bays where so much of the work is done.
From there we went to Kaiser for Eric's dr. appt. where I waited outside in the car, drawing and listening to my book. Then it was on to the church, where Eric's swing band practices, to iron out some details of the summer's schedule.
There wasn't anything lined-up about that place: 3 or 4 people at the church already, volunteers, beginning preparations for today's lunch, I think, moving gracefully (even the guy in the walker), warmly, and maybe gratefully. Grateful for an easy, comfortable day ahead.
How many, many enterprises all keeping busy with copy machines, coffee pots, banners to finish, semi-trucks to haul away used tires, some buzzing like bees, some gliding like butterflies.
