Yesterday

Today, 6 hours seemed like 60.

We drove over to Tooting at 6.00 to see No.1 before she went in for surgery.  She was understandably very nervous but still smiling and thanking everyone as she was wheeled into theatre.  She is so polite and humble and grateful to everyone.  We had a quick coffee (M&S must be making £££££ in the hospital) and then drove home to keep ourselves occupied.  We listened to an interesting podcast about Brian Jones the 'other' rolling stone.  OH did some gardening and I cleaned the house with my phone glued to my side waiting for a call which came around 4.15 after No.1 had been in surgery for around 5 hours.  She was awake and speaking and the surgery had gone well - what a relief, I cried.  We waited an hour or so then drove back to see her in ITU.  Looking bruised and battered but speaking and moving and all my 'what if' worries were put aside.  Next stage is recovery and resting and they are talking about her coming out on Friday - scary, seems too soon after brain surgery but home will be the best place for recovery.
