Village Church

The Parish church of St Teilo Merthyr Mawr was built in 1849-51 to a design by Benjamin Ferry & John Pritchard, on an ancient medieval site. A collection of stones from the former churchyard & the surrounding area now displayed in a shelter in the churchyard. You will also see in the grounds, an octagonal 14th century cross pillar with part of it's original finial, set in three steps of sandstone. If you ever visit the church you must go inside. The stained glass windows which I will blip at a later date are amazing.
Nearby are Merthyr Mawr sand dunes. Scenes from Lawrence of Arabia were filmed on the dunes. It is a magical place.
