It’s That Time Of Year Already.

With the new football season starting a week on Saturday, tonight saw Yeovil’s only home pre-season friendly against League Two Newport County, giving Chris and I (and 2000 other Glovers fans - a remarkably high attendance for a friendly) a chance to cast a critical eye over this season’s new signings.

They gave a very good account of themselves, looking much quicker, stronger and fitter than last season and playing with far more invention. The 2-0 win didn’t flatter us at all; early days but a very promising performance and result against a team two leagues above us.

Earlier, there were also promising signs that my short game might be improving on the morning golf round.
