A taste (and smell) of Edinburgh
Whiff of marijuana in the streets
tourists photographed beside derelict red telephone boxes
And street performances along the Royal Mile.
Yes it’s the first day of Edinburgh Festival.
Had a quick visit before the city is submerged in festival mania, even so it was awfully busy or maybe I am just used to the quiet life in Bridge of Allan these days.
Anyway the Peter Howson at the City art gallery is a tour de force though three floors of macho images (see extra) is overwhelming though it certainly showed off his draughtsmanship and overpowering vision.
It was a relief to cross the road to the Fruitmarket gallery and look at the quiet meditative work of Portuguese artist Leonor Antumes, based in Berlin. (see extra).
