Small and Sweet

Just outside the back door we have a buddleia which always brings in the butterflies and as soon as the sun came out so did they.

This is a small tortoiseshell  - the only one. Over the last years we were inundated with them; not any more. I do like the spectacle when they open their wings to reveal such gorgeous colours. Luckily she came down onto the lower branches for me to get a shot. 

My reading matter has taken a turn last night to a thriller which is more dark and chilling by Celia Fremlin, 'The Long Shadow' which I'm enjoying.
