Mississippi not so burning
The overnight storms seemed to have reduced the temperature, and the humidity. And goodbye to our rampant hedonism too, for there was some serious history to consider, demanding a visit to the very fabulous National Civil Rights Museum, built within the Lorraine Motel where Martin Luther King was assassinated in April 1968. That is one long march. Much too long.
We stayed much longer than anticipated too and could have stayed longer still but we’d places to go.
Via Sun Studios and Graceland of course - the latter glimpsed for those folks back home who may ask. Yes, we’ve seen the gawdawful place.
Down Highway 61, at times on the old one, through Tunica and into Clarksdale. Very photogenic, which shamefully could mean not majority white.
Finally Cleveland, where, it being a Sunday, everything was closed. But hey, the hotel has a rooftop bar. And on the menu something which looked healthy - iceberg lettuce wedge. Thankfully there were a huge number of calories piled on top.
