Female blue wren and (extra) bird orchid
Today we went to nearby town Collie to pick up some supplies. Collie was for many years a coal mining town but now there's only one mine left and it's due to close in the next couple of years. The town is consequently reinventing itself as a tourist destination.
From there we went to Potters Gorge to look for native orchids. Although we couldn't find any, the blue wrens here were not timid and I was able to photograph the female. One of our party who knew nothing about today's TT theme said the wrens were so small one could hold one in one's hand.
Once closer to our accommodation we found a wider variety of flora including some orchids. The extra shows a bird orchid, hard to find because it's green.
Thanks for hosting tiny Tuesday MaryElizaR.
For those of you responding to my yesterday's blip about the llamas: when protecting the flock, llamas are alert and may alarm call and position themselves between the flock and the trespasser. They might also walk or run toward a predator, chase, kick or paw at the predator, and even herd the sheep away. Predators around here would be mainly foxes.
