Trees in the sunshine at Inverewe Garden
The weather didn't look very promising first thing. However, by mid-morning the sky cleared and the sun emerged from behind the rain clouds so we planned a day out in Poolewe.
First of all we visited the weekly market. Here Mr hazelh bought beer and chocolate gingers (and I nothing).
Then we visited Inverewe garden. During our wander along the paths, I resumed the game that I last played on 22nd August 2019. The most interesting (real) plants, however, were the Wollemi pines (on the left in my blip). These are 'fossil' trees that were thought to have died out two million years ago - until the species was discovered in Australia in the 1990s.
Our afternoon tea/coffee and scone stop of the day was Pool House. This is another old haunt of ours. We stayed here in 2009 when it was a hotel. Now it's a café and museum.
The final visit of the day was to the old burial ground in Poolewe to look at a Pictish stone.
Mr hazelh won both our games tonight - one of Scrabble, one of Azul.
I have included an extra of our wee cottage in the afternoon sunshine, photographed on our return to base.
Exercise today: walking (9,966 steps).
