Gypsophila
My maternal grandmother called this plant Gypsy Filly, at least that is how I imagined the spelling as a child.
All our family called it that.
Mum will be 102 on Tuesday and I issued a “no presents” diktat. People have been working to find a way around this!
Margret (next door) arrived today with a bunch of yellow roses, carnation sprays and gypsophila. So pretty.
I thought I should check the real origin of the name:
The genus name is from the Greek gypsos ("gypsum") and philios ("loving"), a reference to the gypsum-rich substrates on which some species grow.
There are over 150 different species. Commonly known as baby’s breath.
I have no idea where the day went……
