Diary of an Edinburgher

CAKE!

Brian came to take Archie out for a long walk (and he got a very good report today...) and I went round to collect Pip. We spent quite a bit of time out in the front garden - Pip is rather more restful to be out the front with - he doesn't bark at everybody walking by!!

JR came home from the gym(s), we collected a big package for Hazel (a huge vase from London) then JR rushed into town to get something important that she really really needed. She checked the bus timetable and there was one in 4 minutes, and she shot off. I need at least 10 minutes, though have made it in less, if I really rush.

She was back in time for our afternoon visitors, Alice and her mum, Mary. Mary lives round the corner, and I often pop in to see her. Alice and I first met at the corner and she had her dog and we had a chat about dogs and that was it. Alice lives in Perth. Perth, Australia, that is... and she flies back home in a couple of days, having been here all ‘summer’…

There was washing up today, sadly - but it IS a communal green - and there was still a sunny patch for us. The cake JR made yesterday was delicious - Mary Berry's apple cake. With cream. In fact, when they had all gone I had another small slither. And I gave a bit to Abi for her husband - she can't eat cakes.

As the visitors were leaving, JR was out the door too - popping round to one of her gym pals. She lives quite nearby, so it worked out well.

Another lovely day, though Brian saw that the dreaded haar was hanging around the coast when he was up Blackford Hill.

Women's Cricket on this evening. And the Rugby World Cup is imminent!!
